My Friend has New Neighbors
While over visiting my friend yesterday we watched some new neighbors move into the rental house across the street. Older low-crime neighborhood in a low-crime town.
Three young 20ish clean-cut guys with three clean newer pickup trucks. One has a rottweiler pup. They all obviously have jobs since they leave in the morning and return around dinner time. Thing is...we watched one of them carry an AR-15 and two other rifles into the house. If tshtf these young, fit, armed gentlemen pretty much own that neighborhood. They probably don't have a bunch of Preps but could sure obtain them as needed. Don't know anything more about 'em. :afraid: |
Re: My Friend has New Neighbors
An AR and two other rifles will own that neighborhood? I hope that serves as a wake-up call for you to augment your own arsenal.

Re: My Friend has New Neighbors
A rocket propelled grenade launcher would render their position... less desirable...

Re: My Friend has New Neighbors
Why should one feel threatened because three clean cut armed guys who work for a living move near them? Before I'd assume they are SHTF adversaries, I would try to meet them and welcome them to the neighborhood.

Yeah, after I augmented my
stock of firearms and ammo and made sure that my longtime neighbors did the same, or MOVE out quickly!

Show up at their door when they return home from work. Introduce yourself, be friendly. Make friends. Bring a bucket of KFC and a case of beer. Make friends. Good neighbors are hard to come by.

Re: My Friend has New Neighbors
Al Qaida teaches members of their sleeper cells to blend in with the population -- e.g., appear clean cut and have regular jobs, or at least pretend to. Trust in appearances is ill placed, particularly in this day and age.

Re: My Friend has New Neighbors
:D Guns don't scare me....I can get lot's of guns.
Raven replies to Tom Cody : Streets of Fire I wouldn't sweat it...maybe one of them is a gun nut....like me. Age ? Not much of a factor to base reliable observations on. Make up some excuse to catch them all at home. Knock on the door and tell them some drivel about the neighborhood is a freaking crime zone with a history of drive by gang wars and burglaries. Tell them you're armed to the teeth and ready to shoot first and ask questions later...ask them to be on the lookout for odd vehicles and suspicious characters that wander around the neighborhood all hours of the day and night..yada,yada,yada... They will either consider you a nut job or you will scare them into showing their hand....be friendly in a menacing, good old boy, shoot the bastards, tone of voice and character. They will get the idea....you can read a lot into their character by their responses. If they flip you off and tell you to hit the street...you got trouble. Time to stash a weapon in every room in case things get real bad...   |

Whoa...maybe they just believe in packing lightly. I wouldn't hold it against them. They're young. They'll probably build a respectable arsenal with time... |

Re: My Friend has New Neighbors
I follow the reasoning of our government. Therefore I conclude that it is inevitable that the new neighbors plan to build nuclear weapons and use them to hold the neighborhood hostage. They must be destroyed.

Re: My Friend has New Neighbors
In California, they are considered "persons of interest"
In Massachusetts, they'd be on the nightly news as "SWAT Team raids house in quiet neighborhood, aresenal found" In Wyoming, they'd be "Boys I let my daughter date" In Texas, they'd be "Woefully underarmed" In East Tennessee, they'd be "Prospective new members of the local rod and gun club"...especially if any of them owned a 4wd. In Middle Tennessee, they would be ignored. In West Tennessee, the would be back to "Persons of interest" |

All good comments. http://ladybunny.net/blog/SANDRA%20%23.jpg Cool your heels there Gladys. Paranoia strikes deep into your life it will creep starts when you're always afraid step outta line, the man comes and takes you away. Go introduce yourself as suggested. I would assume 90% of my neighbors have guns, as I do. |

Gee...who here at GIM does that in their own neighborhood? That is an older rental neighborhood. People come. People go. Being left alone is a blessing. These three young guys appear to be the kind that our daughters should marry. Who knows. :wavey: howdy...can your rottweiler play with my kids? |
Re: My Friend has New Neighbors
Heck, go over and introduce yourselves! Better yet, throw a BBQ and invite them! This is the American way.

you: mouth shut, eyes and ears open, nod sagaciously check the property tax roles to find the owner of the lot; ask them who the landlord is out of curiosity and see what they say if they let people see their weapons they sound "young and dumb." I never let the public see my arms except if I'm wearin a t shirt. lol |
Re: My Friend has New Neighbors
Just tell them "I don't dial 911" and that they would be surprised what could be accomplished with a shotgun and a shovel.
Then wait for the reaction. It will speak VOLUMES of their character. |

Matter of fact, they could be imported Iraqi sleeper refugees. Makes you wonder about the trucks also. They might have armor plating and V8 engines. :508: |

Bring them a welcome to the neighborhood gun cleaning kit and some free range shooting passes. They will be friendly when they know you don't think their nuts.

1) Potential allies?
2) Only 3 rifles??? 4) How much ammo did you see them haul in? 3) Age and wisdom... |
