My Friend has New Neighbors

While over visiting my friend yesterday we watched some new neighbors move into the rental house across the street. Older low-crime neighborhood in a low-crime town.

Three young 20ish clean-cut guys with three clean newer pickup trucks. One has a rottweiler pup. They all obviously have jobs since they leave in the morning and return around dinner time.

Thing is...we watched one of them carry an AR-15 and two other rifles into the house.

If tshtf these young, fit, armed gentlemen pretty much own that neighborhood. They probably don't have a bunch of Preps but could sure obtain them as needed. Don't know anything more about 'em.

:afraid:

An AR and two other rifles will own that neighborhood? I hope that serves as a wake-up call for you to augment your own arsenal.

Why should one feel threatened because three clean cut armed guys who work for a living move near them? Before I'd assume they are SHTF adversaries, I would try to meet them and welcome them to the neighborhood.

I completely concur, Texan.

Yeah, after I augmented my

stock of firearms and ammo and made sure that my longtime neighbors did the same, or MOVE out quickly!

:D Guns don't scare me....I can get lot's of guns.

Raven replies to Tom Cody : Streets of Fire

I wouldn't sweat it...maybe one of them is a gun nut....like me.

Age ? Not much of a factor to base reliable observations on.

Make up some excuse to catch them all at home.
Knock on the door and tell them some drivel about the neighborhood is a freaking crime zone with a history of drive by gang wars and burglaries.

Tell them you're armed to the teeth and ready to shoot first and ask questions later...ask them to be on the lookout for odd vehicles and suspicious characters that wander around the neighborhood all hours of the day and night..yada,yada,yada...

They will either consider you a nut job or you will scare them into showing their hand....be friendly in a menacing, good old boy, shoot the bastards, tone of voice and character.

They will get the idea....you can read a lot into their character by their responses.

If they flip you off and tell you to hit the street...you got trouble.

Time to stash a weapon in every room in case things get real bad...

Good advice.... We can be so knowledgeable about TPTB, that we can become paranoid if we let it get to us (myself included), which is another thing the bastards are counting on.

I follow the reasoning of our government. Therefore I conclude that it is inevitable that the new neighbors plan to build nuclear weapons and use them to hold the neighborhood hostage. They must be destroyed.

In California, they are considered "persons of interest"

In Massachusetts, they'd be on the nightly news as "SWAT Team raids house in quiet neighborhood, aresenal found"

In Wyoming, they'd be "Boys I let my daughter date"

In Texas, they'd be "Woefully underarmed"

In East Tennessee, they'd be "Prospective new members of the local rod and gun club"...especially if any of them owned a 4wd.

In Middle Tennessee, they would be ignored.

In West Tennessee, the would be back to "Persons of interest"

Cool your heels there Gladys.

Paranoia strikes deep

step outta line, the man comes and takes you away.

Go introduce yourself as suggested. I would assume 90% of my neighbors have guns, as I do.

Gee...who here at GIM does that in their own neighborhood? That is an older rental neighborhood. People come. People go. Being left alone is a blessing. These three young guys appear to be the kind that our daughters should marry. Who knows.

They probably are terrorists. They might be Arabian sleepers (disguised as Europeans) waiting to attack. Everyone knows they hate freedom.

Matter of fact, they could be imported Iraqi sleeper refugees. Makes you wonder about the trucks also. They might have armor plating and V8 engines.

So we should throw away the Constitution because "anyone could be a terrorist"? The Patriot Act was justified by the notion that we need to be protected from Islamic extremists.

Hmmmm,

AR, Number one weapon of choice for wanna be LEO's and white drug dealers.

AK, Number one choice of weapon for any other color drug dealers, and people who like to have a lot of battle rifles on hand for TEOTWAWKI.

M1, M1A, FAL, Number one choice of weapon for serious old timers who know a few things about holdovers and windage.

All that said, it matters some where you live. Where I'm at the above applies. Every pot grower seems to have AR's (as seen on the news). If they don't have rowdy parties, drunkin weekends, and are trying to live a "normal" life they prolly would be OK. Most don't flaunt their weapons, at least not here.

If you are older than them then meeting them would be the proper thing to do. Just be the good ole boy from down the street. You know how us old guys just don't know anything. :rolleyes_m:

Prolly "young and dumb"

I am always as unobtrusive as possible. Have the guns cased or otherwise disguised when going from house to car.

Did want the neighbors on one side of me to quit rattling my cage at one point in time. So I attempted to be as bizarre as possible in my behavior for weeks and months. Then if they were outside when it was pretty and I was going to and from the range - at the car, where I would be easily seen - I would pull my pistols from the bag one at the time and hold them up to see that they were clear (supposedly) before taking them in the house.

I wanted them to think they were dealing with a whacko gun nut that might go off at any point. That and other strategies seem to have worked pretty well _grin_

Friend would clean his shotgun while sitting on his porch drinking beer. Playing Guns and Roses' Welcome To The Jungle cranked up on the stereo. Would point the bore at them while checking for obstructions. They moved away.

Re: My Friend has New Neighbors

Oooh! I need one of those pink dinosaurs for my yard! A couple of the neighbors already seem to be afraid of me. I used to order the costumes for my belly dance troupe. One of the companies I ordered from was in the Middle East. They got my address wrong and, despite my sending them two dozen emails demanding a correction, persisted in sending the packages to my neighbor's house. Not only do I have long black hair and a yellowish, Central European complexion, but when my dance troupe had a performance, I'd leave the house wearing a long black abaya that we covered our costumes with before a performance. Several times I saw my neighbor see me and duck back in his house. Add that weirdness to the big old ('85) beaten up pick-up truck with Pit Bull rescue and bat (a caving thing) stickers on it that I drive, and my loading my truck in the driveway (no garage) with either caving ropes and mysterious gear or guns most weekends, and he probably thinks I'm some weird Muslim redneck!

Fortunately, I've lived here 17 years, and most of my neighbors know me pretty well, but that neighbor who keeps hiding from me probably busies himself writing letters to Fatherland Security about me and posting stuff about the terrorist who lives down the street from him on Internet sites like this. :bear_laugh:
